More Jumping In

NOTE: A lot of the pictures here are also posted in the previous post about Apollo's temple. No, I'm not going through and editing. Let's be honest; we're lucky I'm posting. HA!

When My Favorite and I arrived in Türkiye, we got to Side late in the afternoon. We went for dinner at Alya Steakhouse, but more or less collapsed. The next day, though, he had a day off and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Because he had been here before, he had places he wanted to show me and I had places I wanted to see. It was a good combination.

When we were assigned to Greece last year (more on that soon-ish, I promise), we were so freaking excited. But the reality didn't match the myth. When we were assigned ~ managed to manipulate ourselves into ~ Türkiye this year, we were excited because we'd enjoyed Istanbul last year so much (more on that too!) and because it meant catching up with Sam. Little did we know that Türkiye is everything we expected from Greece and more.

The adventure continues...

Ruins and Apollo's Temple

June 11, 2025

Here is the only way this is going to work: I'm going to post a shit ton of pictures with the date they were taken. Until otherwise noted, we're in Türkiye.

Unless we do it this way, if I try to write wonderful stories ~ and my god, are there wonderful stories ~ I won't ever get anything posted. And the whole point is to try to start getting things posted again. Just sayin...

We arrived in Side, Manavgat, Türkiye on 10 June. By 11 June, we were sane and could leave the room.

A Day in the Life...

I have come to love Türkiye. Yes, it has its issues, but I have come to love it here. But the single best part of being in Türkiye, is getting to see this man:

I don't have a name for him yet, so we'll call him Sam.

For years, I have been being told about his day-to-day. Seen pictures of him with his friends. Seen coffee shops and parks and views. Gotten texts about being on the train, on the subway, going on walks. But I've never made it to Ankara. I've never seen it. Until now. He took a day of his weekend and walked me through a day in his life.

Coffee Stop 3

Yes, yes that is three coffee shops. First, it's Türkiye. Second, he does it in a week; we had a day.

It was a good day. ❤
